London Marathon 2015 – inspiring and emotional

There’s nothing like a mass sporting event to bring people out onto the streets of London – and that’s 26.2 miles of streets to be exact! On Sunday 26th April the Virgin Money London Marathon saw 38,000 runners pounding the pavement and hundreds of thousands of spectators armed with umbrellas cheering them on. But thankfully the rain held off and the runners had a mostly dry course to contend with.

From Batman to Wonder Woman, a giant ear to a Buxton water bottle, there were some top-class costumes on display, with 33 fancy dress Guinness World Records set. Some competitors opted for just a token cape or comical head attire and there was even a couple who got married half way round the course! Millions of pounds was raised for charity, which caps off an amazing and inspiring occasion.

The London marathon is always an emotional event – from scenes of euphoria as people in the crowd see their friends run (or walk, or even hobble) past them; to runners bursting into tears as they cross the finish line, having just completed their first, or tenth, or 367th marathon (which was true of one runner!).

eva was there to capture the emotion.
