3 Upcoming Artists You Should Watch in 2016

Guest blogger and YouTuber Joyce Lee takes over the eva blog this week to give us her two cents on the YouTube musical sensations worth watching!

Let’s be honest, we all love listening to mainstream music from artists like Adele, Beyoncé, Ed Sheeran, who doesn’t? But nowadays there are a lot of upcoming artists who are also absolutely brilliant, and with the rise of social media and YouTube, you can discover a lot more talented singers from all different sorts of social media apps! I think these are three new artists you should be listening to:

Upcoming artists on youtubeIf you enjoy music by Lana Del Rey, then you will enjoy the music by this upcoming artist, Halsey!

Halsey first began her career by posting covers on YouTube under her real name (Ashley Frangipane) in 2012, unfortunately Halsey has deleted all the videos from her original channel, but fear not! There are still a couple of videos lying around on YouTube if you want to check out her old stuff! Halsey’s debut album, Badlands, was released on August 2015. One of her hit single, New Americana (my personal favourite song of hers, but shh!) has reached 15 million views on YouTube and also has been listened to 89 million times on Spotify!

YouTuber Troye Sivan?

You might have heard of Troye because of all his collaborations with some of the biggest names on YouTube, including Tyler Oakley and Zoella, but did you know Troye is not just a video blogger, but also a singer and songwriter? Troye released his debut album, Blue Neighbourhood, in December 2015. His music video trilogy comprising ‘Wild’, ‘Fools’, ‘Talk Me Down’ has gained nearly 35 million views in total. He is currently on his second concert tour, Blue Neighbourhood Tour. In fact, he is holding a couple of concerts in the UK in April, definitely one of the upcoming artists worth checking out!

You would be surprised by how successful Tori Kelly already is…

Tori started posting videos on YouTube at the age of 14, and in 2013 she was signed to Capitol Records. Since then her career has been pretty smooth sailing: she supported Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith on their tour, released her debut album Unbreakable Smile in 2015, and received a nomination for Best New Artist at the 58th Grammy Award. Not too bad eh?
